LED or light-emitting diode is a type of solid-state lighting that utilizes a semiconductor to convert electricity into light. Modern LEDs can be six to seven timers more energy efficient than a standard light bulb. Additionally LED light bulbs cut energy use by more than 80%.
Quality LED bulbs can be operable for up to 25,000 hours or more. This means that they last more than 25 times longer than traditional light bulbs. This averages about three years depending on usage.
Standard light bulbs typically release 90% of their energy as heat, while LEDs use energy for far more efficiency while wasting little heat. Since these bulbs are so effective, they are used for a range of appliances and machines such as televisions, brake lights, traffic lights, and so much more. These lights are easy to maintain, come in a compact size, highly resistant to breakage, and even has the ability to focus the light in one direction.
Additionally, LEDs do not contain any mercury. Recent studies have proven that LEDs have a much smaller environmental influence than incandescent light bulbs.
